Queen's Cake

  1. Cake directions: Combine shortening, salt and vanilla.
  2. Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  4. Sift flour and baking powder together three times.
  5. Add small amount of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
  6. Pour batter into two greased 8-inch layer pans or a bundt pan.
  7. Bake in a moderate oven 375F or 25 minutes, bundt pan for 45 minutes at 350F
  8. Frosting Directions: Sift confectioners' sugar.
  9. Add light cream to reach frosting consistency.
  10. Add a dash of salt and vanilla.
