Queen's Cake
- 12 cup Crisco
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, unbeaten
- 2 cups sifted cake flour
- 2 12 teaspoons baking powder
- 34 cup milk
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- light cream
- 1 dash salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Cake directions: Combine shortening, salt and vanilla.
- Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
- Sift flour and baking powder together three times.
- Add small amount of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
- Pour batter into two greased 8-inch layer pans or a bundt pan.
- Bake in a moderate oven 375F or 25 minutes, bundt pan for 45 minutes at 350F
- Frosting Directions: Sift confectioners' sugar.
- Add light cream to reach frosting consistency.
- Add a dash of salt and vanilla.
