Broccoli Beef

  1. For the marinade: Whisk together the baking soda, sugar, cornstarch, soy sauce, water, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large bowl.
  2. Add the steak and toss it with the marinade to coat.
  3. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour, then proceed below
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, flour and apple cider vinegar until smooth.
  5. Set aside.
  6. In a large wok or saute pan, heat 2 tablespoons of the vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.
  7. Add broccoli and saute 3 minutes, stirring often.
  8. Transfer broccoli to a plate.
  9. Carefully add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the hot pan.
  10. Add the marinated meat and half of the sauce mixture and saute for 3-4 minutes, stirring often, until the meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
  11. Stir in the cooked broccoli and remaining sauce.
  12. Saute 1 minute more.
  13. Serve with steamed rice or starch of your choice.
