Vegetarian Fried Burdock Root with Sweet-Salty Sauce and Sesame Seeds
- 2 Burdock roots
- 1 Katakuriko
- 1 Olive oil
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 2 tsp Cooking sake (optional)
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 2 tsp Ground sesame seeds (white)
- 2 tsp Toasted white sesame seeds
- 1 Red chili peppers (sliced into rounds)
- Chop the burdock roots with the skin on into pieces, and soak in water.
- Drain the excess water, and lightly coat with katakuriko.
- Shallow-fry in olive oil.
- Simmer the sauce ingredients in the pan.
- Add the Step 3 burdock roots to the pan, mix with the sauce, and you're done.
