Classic Baked Mac & Cheese

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cook macaroni as directed on package, omitting salt.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat.
  4. Add onions and garlic; cook and stir 5 min.
  5. or until crisp-tender.
  6. Stir in flour and mustard; cook and stir 1 min.
  7. Gradually whisk in milk, cooking and stirring after each addition until slightly thickened.
  8. Simmer on low heat 5 to 7 min.
  9. or until thickened, stirring constantly.
  10. Remove from heat.
  11. Add 2-2/3 cups cheese; stir until melted.
  12. Add macaroni to cheese sauce; mix lightly.
  13. Pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
  14. Combine remaining cheese and bread crumbs; sprinkle over macaroni mixture.
  15. Bake 20 min.
  16. or until heated through.
