Classic Baked Mac & Cheese
- 3 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped King Sooper's 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
- 3 cups milk
- 3 cups Cracker Barrel Shredded Old Cheddar Cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cook macaroni as directed on package, omitting salt.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat.
- Add onions and garlic; cook and stir 5 min.
- or until crisp-tender.
- Stir in flour and mustard; cook and stir 1 min.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cooking and stirring after each addition until slightly thickened.
- Simmer on low heat 5 to 7 min.
- or until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat.
- Add 2-2/3 cups cheese; stir until melted.
- Add macaroni to cheese sauce; mix lightly.
- Pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
- Combine remaining cheese and bread crumbs; sprinkle over macaroni mixture.
- Bake 20 min.
- or until heated through.
