Cinnamon Apple Cranberry Relish

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the cranberry juice, cranberries, cinnamon and sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil and let cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the apples and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have softened and apples are tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove a little of the liquid and whisk into the cornstarch.
  5. Slowly add the cornstarch-juice mixture (slurry) to the cranberry mixture, stirring constantly.
  6. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and pour into a serving bowl.
  8. Refrigerate until thickened, about 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the cinnamon sticks add the walnuts and serve.
