Apple Strudal 3 (Philo Pastry) Recipe
- 400 gm apples, Granny Smith
- 167/1000 c. sugar (caster)
- 1/10 tsp cinnamon, grnd
- 1/3 c. saltanas
- 3/4 Tbsp. apricot jam
- 150 gm butter
- 1/2 c. fresh breadcrumbs
- 1/2 Tbsp. almonds, flaked
- 8 sht philo pastry
- Filling:Peel, core and slice the apples.
- Heat 20 gm butter in a frying pan and cook the apples to just soften them.
- Combine in a bowl with remaining filling ingredients and mix gently to ensure the apples do not break up.
- Philo pastry:Lay out a sheet and brush lightly all over with melted butter.
- Lay another sheet over and again brush with butter.
- Repeat using 6 more sheets.
- Place the filling down the center, leaving 5cm at each end.
- Roll up and seal ends, making sure the join is on the bottom, place on a greased baking tray and brush all over with butter.
- Bake 170C/360F for 30 min till golden brown in colour.
