Upside Down Apple Gingerbread

  1. Pour butter into a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Arrange apples over butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and set aside.
  3. For gingerbread, combine butter, molasses, sugar and egg in a mmixing bowl; mix well.
  4. Combine dry ingredients; add to sugar mixture alternately with hot tea.
  5. Mix well; pour over apples.
  6. Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes or until the cake tests done.
  7. Cool for 3-5 minutes.
  8. Loosen sides and invert onto a serving plate.
  9. Serve warm.
