Over the Top Hot Fudge Sundaes

  1. Scoop the ice cream into a serving bowl, cover and place in the freezer.
  2. Can be done one day in advance.
  3. Combine chocolate, sugar and whipping cream in a medium-size heavy saucepan.
  4. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted.
  5. Increase heat to medium and bring mixture to a boil.
  6. Boil, stirring constantly, until sauce is smooth and thick, 4-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  8. To serve: Put each topping in a separate bowl.
  9. Set out buffet-style: Bowl of ice cream, Hot Fudge Sauce, bowls of toppings.
  10. Let guests serve themselves.
