Granola Fruit Squares Recipe
- 2 c. quick or possibly old fashion oats
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon minced nuts
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 c. preserves
- Combine all ingredients, except preserves, in a large mixing bowl, beat at low speed till mix is crumbly.
- Reserve 2 c. of mix, press remaining onto bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Spread preserves over base (spreads easier if it is heated) sprinkle with reserved mix.
- Bake in preheated warm oven (400 degrees) 25-30 min or possibly till golden.
- Cold, cut into squares.
- Can substitute 1/4 tsp.
- nutmeg, 1/8 tsp.
- cloves in dry ingredients, 1 c. applesauce, 3/4 c. raisins and 1/2 c. nuts for preserves.
