Canada: Tourtiere Pork Pie Recipe

  1. In a saucepan, combine the grnd pork, water, nutmeg, allspice, salt, pepper and onion.
  2. Cook over moderate heat for 30 min, stirring often to prevent sticking.
  3. Remove from heat; add in the mashed potatoes; and mix well.
  4. Cold.
  5. Fill two pastry-lined plates;adjust top crusts, slashing pastry to allow for the steam to escape as the pies bake.
  6. Bake in a warm oven, 425 degrees F., For 40 min.
  7. Serve warm or possibly cool.
