Jessie's Broccoli Cheese Soup
- 3/4 tsp. liquid smoke
- 1/4 lb. butter
- margarine
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 pint half and half
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 2 bunches broccoli tops
- 2-1/2 qt. boiling water
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 12 oz. Cheeze Whiz
- 6 carrots, thinly sliced
- 8 chicken bullion cubes
- Saute onions and carrots in butter or margarine in a fry pan until tender.
- Add flour to make a roux.
- Add the bullion cubes to the boiling water.
- Add the roux to the water.
- Use a wire wisk stirring until smooth.
- Add the Cheeze Whiz, half and half, liquid smoke, salt and pepper.
- Simmer on low, stirring often for about 20 minutes.
- Add broccoli tops and cook until tender, about another 25 minutes.
