Simmered Twisted Konnyaku
- 1 Konnyaku
- 300 ml Dashi stock
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Sake
- 5 grams Bonito flakes
- Cut the konnyaku into 5 mm thick slices.
- Make a slit in the middle of each slice.
- Thread the end through the slit in the middle to make a "rein knot."
- Boil the konnyaku for about a minute, and drain.
- Put the ingredients and the konnyaku in a pan, and turn on the heat.
- Bring to a boil, then turn down the heat to low and put a small lid right on top of the food.
- Simmer until there's no moisture left in the pan.
- When there is no more moisture in the pan, add the bonito flakes and turn off the heat.
- It tastes better if you let it cool down first to let the flavors penetrate the konnyaku.
- It's delicious served cold.
