Nif's Grandpa's Baked Granola
- 8 cups whole oats
- 2 cups slivered almonds
- 2 cups wheat germ
- 2 cups unsweetened coconut, grated
- 12 cup oil (vegetable or canola)
- 34 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup water (more if needed)
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Mix wet mixture ingredients together in a medium bowl.
- Add wet mixture to dry.
- Mix until small clusters form.
- If you live in a dry area, you may need to add more water - add 1/4 cup more at a time.
- Spread very evenly onto 2 cookie sheets.
- Bake for 30 - 35 minutes at 350F Bake in 9-10 minute intervals, then mix on the pan.
- Make sure that it is evenly distributed so corner areas don't burn.
- You can enjoy some of it warm but cool completely to store in an airtight container.
