Macaroni and Cheese - Microwave Version
- 7 ounces macaroni, cooked
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon dry mustard
- 14 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 -10 drops hot pepper sauce
- 1 12 cups skim milk
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese (or combination) or 8 ounces swiss cheese, shredded (or combination)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 12 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- Cook macaroni.
- Put 3 tablespoons butter in a large (1 1/2 quart) casserole.
- Microwave until melted.
- Blend in flour, salt, mustard, pepper, and hot sauce.
- Stir in milk.
- Microwave until thick (4-6 minutes), whisking once or twice during this time.
- Stir in cheese.
- Microwave 30-90 seconds to soften/melt cheese.
- Stir in cooked macaroni.
- In a small bowl, melt 3 tablespoons butter in the microwave.
- Stir in bread crumbs.
- Sprinkle over casserole.
- Microwave at 70% power for 5-7 minutes.
