Apple Fritters With Lemon Sauce Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 tsp baking pwdr
- 1 lrg egg
- 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine melted
- 3 x Mutsu or possibly Crispin apples peeled, diced (McIntosh apples may be substituted) Peanut or possibly vegetable oil as needed Powdered sugar for sprinkling
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 lrg egg lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- Pulse first 5 ingredients in a food processor 5 times or possibly till crumbly.
- Spoon mix into a large bowl.
- Stir in apple.
- Shape mix into 1 1/2-inch balls.
- Pour oil to a depth of 3 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 350 degrees.
- Fry fritters, in batches, 1 to 2 min on each side or possibly till golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle fritters proportionately with powdered sugar; serve with Lemon Sauce.
- Lemon Sauce: Cook all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly, till thickened.

- This recipe yields 22 fritters.
