Best Chocolate Cake With Fudge Frosting Recipe

  2. Heat oven to 350F.

  4. Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 3 pan, 3 8" round pans or possibly 2 9" round pans.

  6. Beat all ingredients except fudge frosting in a large bowl on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.
  7. Beat on high speed for 3 min, scraping bowl constantly.
  8. Pour into pan(s).

  10. Bake for 40-45 min (rectangle pan) or possibly 30-35 min (round pans), or possibly till wooden pick comes out clean.
  11. Cold rounds 10 minutes.
  12. ; remove from pans.
  13. Cold completely.
  14. Frost.
  15. Fudge Frosting
  16. 2 c sugar 1/2 c shortening 3 ounce unsweetened chocolate 2/3 c lowfat milk 1/2 t salt 2 t vanilla
  17. Mix all ingredients except vanilla in a 2 1/2 qt saucepan.
  18. Heat to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally.
  19. Boil 1 minute without stirring.
  20. Place saucepan in a bowl of ice and water.
  21. Beat till frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency; add in vanilla.
