Ready Spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Vegetable oil, as needed
- 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) crushed tomatoes in thick puree
- 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced or ready-cut Italian-recipe tomatoes
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 12 ounces spaghetti, cooked according to package directions and drained
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for sprinkling on top
- In a large skillet over medium heat, combine beef, onion, and garlic and saute, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until meat is browned and vegetables are tender, 6 to 7 minutes, adding a little oil if needed.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, wine, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper and simmer, uncovered, until flavors are blended, 10 to 20 minutes.
- Serve over spaghetti, sprinkled with Parmesan.
