The French Grill
- 1 teaspoon butter (room temperature)
- 2 slices French bread
- 2 ounces gruyere, thinly sliced
- 3 sprigs fresh basil
- Take cheese out of the refrigerator an hour ahead of time so that it may melt more evenly.
- Preheat the oven to 350, preheat the iron skillet over medium heat.
- Butter the outside of the bread, assemble sandwich with the basil in between the slices of cheese.
- Add 1/3 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and cook to brown.
- Lay the sandwich in the pan until it achieves a crusty brown side.
- About 1.5 minutes.
- Flip and cook for additional 30 to 45 seconds.
- Spread remaining butter the less brown side, and put in oven until cheese is melted as desired.
- Remove and let sit before devouring.
- Enjoy!
