Chikuwa and Green Pepper--Kids Will 'Em Right Up
- 3 small Chikuwa
- 2 Green peppers
- 1 tbsp Mentsuyu (3x concentrate)
- 3 tbsp Water
- 1 dash Sesame oil
- Slice the chikuwa into rounds.
- Cut the green peppers in half, then slice into thin strips against the grain to allow the flavor to penetrate.
- Put water (no oil) and mentsuyu in a pan and stir the ingredients from Step 1 over medium heat until the liquid evaporates.
- Turn off the heat when the liquid is gone, then drizzle on some sesame oil and toss everything together.
- Once evenly combined, it's done.
- Top with ground sesame, if available.
- Addendum: If you like green beans, slightly increase the amount of mentsuyu, and make with green peppers and green beans.
- It's a delightful dish with lots of greens.
