Easy Savory Onion Meatballs-No Oven
- 1 14 lbs ground beef
- 1 egg
- 12 cup plain panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon A.1. Original Sauce
- 12 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley, flakes
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground horseradish (usually found by the cheese section in your grocery store in a small glass jar with a white label)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 12 large onion, chopped
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 38 ounces onion soup mix, envelope (you will use HALF)
- 1 tablespoon flour
- Combine the first nine ingredients thoroughly in a medium sized bowl and refrigerate 15 minutes or so.
- Heat the vegtable oil on medium heat in a large non-stick frying pan.
- Form meat mixture into firm 1 -1 1/4 inch sized meatballs by rolling them in your clean hands.
- Brown the meatballs in the frying pan in two batches and set aside (be very gentile as to not break them apart).
- Fry the onion using about a tablespoon of the remaining oil a few minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Combine 2 cups hot water with the half envelope of onion soup mix and add to the onions in the frying pan along with the meatballs.
- Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes flipping the meatballs once at 10 minutes and no more.
- Remove meatballs from the pan leaving the onion broth.
- Wisk 1/2 cup of the hot broth with the flour in a small bowl, then add it back to the frying pan and whisk to combine.
- Add the meatballs back and spoon the gravy over them -simmer uncovered for 5 minutes
- Serve with toothpicks as an appetizer or over buttered noodles.
