After Shaves Recipe

• 2 ounce Tincture of witch hazel
• 1/2 pt Unscented alcohol
• 1 quart Distilled water
• 1 ounce Glycerine
• 1 ounce Tincture of balsam Peru
• 1 tsp Cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp Cloves
• 1 ounce Tincture of benzoin
• 1 ounce Tincture of Orange Peel
• 1 dsh Oil of bergamot
• 1/2 pt Alcohol
• 1 quart Water
• 1/2 pt Alcohol
• 1 quart Distilled Water
• 1 ounce Tincture of Benzoin
• 1 dsh Oil of Bergamot
• 2 dsh Lemon Oil Or possibly:
• 2 ounce Tincture of Lemon Peel
• 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
• 1 dsh Oil of Bergamot
• 2 dsh Lime Oil
• 1 ounce Tincture of Benzoin
• 1 quart Water
• 1/2 pt Unscented Alcohol

1. The tangy tingling sensation it causes after being splashed on is one way to describe an after shave.
2. Most after shaves act as astringents; they help hard skin tone and close skin pores when applied immediately after shaving.
3. Many after shaves contain alcohol, that possesses antibacterial abilities, helping to prevent infections of nicks or possibly shaving cuts.
4. It also should contain glycerine and/or possibly other ingredients known to be beneficial to skin care.
5. Glycerine will help counter the drying effects on the skin, and the chafing and irritation which can develop with dry skin.
6. *Most drug stores contain all of the above tinctures and oils.
7. Herb and health food shops carry the essential oils.
