Lower-Guilt Level Philly Cheesesteak
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, julienned
- 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced and lean
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 whole wheat rolls, the low calorie hot dog kind
- 14 cup 2% Velveeta cheese
- 1 tablespoon fat-free half-and-half
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- Bring a large skillet up to medium high heat and add non-stick cooking spray.
- Add onion and peppers, season, and cook until they begin to caramelize.
- Remove from heat.
- Spray the pan again with non-stick cooking spray and allow to come back to medium high heat.
- Add steak and season with salt, pepper, and worcestershire sauce.
- Cook until steak is to desired doneness - about 2 minutes per side.
- Melt cheese on stove or microwave with the half and half.
- Stir frequently until it is smooth and melted.
- Toast or warm rolls, spread even amounts of cheese on each roll.
- Top with even amounts of onion/pepper mixture and steak.
