Barbecued Oysters

  1. Combine egg and milk in a small bowl; mix well.
  2. Dredge each oyster in flour, dip in egg mixture, and coat with cracker crumbs.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Saute onion in butter in a large skillet until tender.
  5. Add next 7 ingredients, and mix well.
  6. Bring mixture to a boil.
  7. reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  8. Heat 1 inch of oil to 350 degrees F. Fry oysters in oil until golden brown; drain on paper towels.
  9. Place oysters in sauce and simmer, uncovered 5 minutes, turning once.
  10. Serve immediately.
