Yellow Cornbread

  1. Combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add milk, egg and shortening.
  3. Beat until fairly smooth, approximately 1 minute.
  4. Turn batter into a greased 8-inch baking pan and bake at 425F for 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Bake 15 or 20 minutes.
