Mom's Wine Cookies Recipe

  1. Cream sugar and shortening.
  2. Add in remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Beat egg white in a small bowl or possibly tea c.; in another put grnd almonds, cinnamon, and sugar mix.
  4. Take small portion of dough (smaller than walnut-size), roll into ball, flatten between fingers.
  5. Dip one side into egg white, then into topping mix.
  6. As you place onto a greased cookie sheet, poke an indentation into the center of each cookie with your finger.
  7. Bake at 325 degrees for 8-10 min, then remove from oven.
  8. Poke down the indentation again and spoon a tiny portion of jam.
  9. Replace in oven, bake another 10 min, or possibly till lightly browned.
  10. Makes approximately 40 cookies.
