Bulgur Pilaf With Pine Nuts Recipe
- 1 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
- 1 x Clove (large) garlic, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. Pine nuts
- 1/2 c. Bulgur, or possibly cracked wheat
- 1 c. Meat stock Salt and pepper
- Heat butter in medium pot.
- Saute/fry garlic and nuts over low heat for 3 to 5 min, till nuts are lightly browned.
- Add in bulgur and cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 min or possibly till the grains are well coated with the butter.
- Add in the broth and turn heat up to high.
- Stir once.
- When mix begins to boil, reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 min (see note).
- Season.
- Note - if you are using instant or possibly quick-cooking bulgur, follow directions on box.
- Variations: Add in raisins, and or possibly onions.
- Add in minced dates.
- Mix bulgur with small pasta, like orzo.
- Use beef broth for a strong flavor, chicken for a milder flavor.
- Add in diced carrots and celery.
