Bacon Wrapped Dates Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
  3. Soak 24 toothpicks in water for 15 min.
  4. Soaking the toothpicks in water prevents them from splintering and burning.
  5. Wrap each date with a piece of bacon, and skewer date with toothpick to hold bacon in place.
  6. Place dates seam-sides down on baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle with sugar, if you like.
  8. Bake till tops are well browned, about 6 min.
  9. Turn, and bake till proportionately browned and the bacon is cooked and crisp, 2 to 4 min more.
  10. Drain on paper towels.
  11. Let cold slightly before serving.
  12. This recipe yields 2 dozen.
