Apple Bread Pudding Recipe
- 3 c. Microwave Apple Sauce or possibly any apple sauce
- 8 slc stale bread cubed (8 to 10)
- 5 lrg Large eggs
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 3 c. half-and-half
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Prepare apple sauce.
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Grease a 2 1/2 qt casserole dish.
- Put 1/2 of cubed bread in casserole.
- Mix Large eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, half-and-half, and vanilla.
- Beat till well-blended.
- Pour 1/2 of egg mix over bread.
- Put 1 1/2 c. apple sauce over bread-egg mix.
- Repeat with other half of ingredients, ending with apple sauce.
- Put casserole in large baking pan with 2" of boiling water.
- Bake for 50-60 min, till knife inserted in center comes out clean.
- Remove casserole from pan of water.
- Place on rack to cold.
- Serve hot or possibly chilled.
- Serves 8.
- Optional: Pour small amount of cream or possibly egg nog over each serving.
