Finger Paint
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1 c. cold water, divided
- 2 c. hot water water
- 1/2 c. mild soap flakes or granules
- food coloring or acrylic or tempera paints
- 1/2 c. dry laundry starch or 1/3 c. cornstarch
- Soften gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water; set aside.
- Combine laundry starch with remaining cold water in medium saucepan; add the hot water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with wooden spoon until mixture comes to a full boil and has become completely thickened.
- Remove from heat; blend in the softened gelatin. Add soap and stir until completely dissolved.
- Add food coloring or paint to all or part of the mixture until desired color is obtained, adding no more than 1 tablespoon coloring or paint to each recipe.
- Store in covered containers.
- Recipe may be multiplied.
