Pears With Maple Syrup and Vanilla

  1. Set the oven at 180C/gas mark4.
  2. Peel the pears, cut them in half and remove their cores.
  3. Bring the sugar and water to the boil, add in the pears and let them simmer for 10-15 minutes till they become tender.
  4. Drain and discard the syrup.
  5. Place the pears in a shallow baking dish.
  6. Drizzle with the maple syrup and the vanilla extract.
  7. Bake for about 60 minutes, till the pears get very soft and pale gold.
  8. Serve with a jug of cream.
