Pears With Maple Syrup and Vanilla
- 4 large pears
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 750 ml water
- 4 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 -3 drops vanilla extract
- cream, to serve
- Set the oven at 180C/gas mark4.
- Peel the pears, cut them in half and remove their cores.
- Bring the sugar and water to the boil, add in the pears and let them simmer for 10-15 minutes till they become tender.
- Drain and discard the syrup.
- Place the pears in a shallow baking dish.
- Drizzle with the maple syrup and the vanilla extract.
- Bake for about 60 minutes, till the pears get very soft and pale gold.
- Serve with a jug of cream.
