Apple Grunt

  1. In a medium pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the apples and cook until browned.
  3. Add the brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins, and the apple juice and bring to a simmer.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water and stir until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  5. Add the cornstarch slurry to the pan and bring to a simmer again.
  6. Cook while stirring until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Divide the mixture among 4 serving bowls.
  8. Top each bowl with crushed granola, a scoop of ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, and a cherry.
  9. Serve immediately.
  10. Cook's Note: This dish is better when the apple mixture is cooked 1 day in advance.
