Mint Layer Fudge

  1. CHOCOLATE LAYER:.
  2. In a heavy 3-quart saucepan mix sugar, evaporated milk, marshmallow creme, butter and salt.
  3. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture comes to a rolling boil.
  4. Boil and stir 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips until completely melted.
  7. Add vanilla.
  8. Pour into a buttered 8-inch square baking pan.
  9. Let cool.
  10. MINT LAYER:.
  11. Stir together 2 tablespoons butter, powdered sugar, evaporated milk, peppermint extract and green food coloring.
  12. Mix until smooth.
  13. Pour over cooled chocolate fudge.
  14. Refrigerate until firm.
  15. Cut into 1-inch squares.
