Betti's London Broil

  1. Melt butter in skillet.
  2. Cook and stir onions and 1/4 teaspoon salt in the butter until onions are tender.
  3. Keep warm over low heat.
  4. Stir together salad oil, lemon juice, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt and the pepper; brush on top side of meat.
  5. Set oven control at broil and/or 550 degrees F.
  6. Broil meat 2 to 3 inches from heat about 5 minutes or until brown.
  7. Turn meat; brush with oil mixture and broil just until rare, 5 minutes longer.
  8. Cut meat across grain at a slanted angle into very thin slices; serve with onions.
  9. NOTE: A can of mushrooms can be added with the onions.
