Luscious Apple Crumb Pie Recipe
- Dough for single crust pie pastry
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon grated lemon rind, optional
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 5 to 7 green or possibly other tart pie apples, pared & sliced
- Line 9 inch oven-proof glass pie plate with pastry.
- Blend granulated sugar, salt, spices, lemon rind and butter in large mixing bowl.
- Toss apples.
- Arrange in pastry-lined plate.
- CRUMB TOPPING: Mix sugars and water thoroughly in mixing bowl; add in remaining ingredients and blend with pastry blender to create coarse crumbs.
- Spoon topping over apples.
