Dripping Springs Pecan Pie
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 unbaked pie shell (9-inch)
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup pecan halves
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bottom of the pie shell.
- Combine the corn syrup, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well.
- Stir in the eggs, butter and vanilla.
- Add the pecans and mix gently.
- Spoon into the prepared pie shell.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees.
- Bake for 45 minutes longer or until set.
