Creamy Mac N' Cheese
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 34 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups milk or 2 cups half-and-half cream
- 18 slices of individually wrapped american cheese slices
- breadcrumbs or buttery garlic Club crackers
- Heat oven 350F Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- Drain.
- Melt butter in 3 quart saucepan until sizzling; stir in flour, salt and pepper.
- Add milk; cook over med heat; stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens (5 - 7 mins).
- Reduce heat to low; stir in cheese.
- Cook until cheese is melted (3 - 5 mins) Add cooked macaroni mix well.
- Spoon into ungreased 2 quart casserole.
- Bake for 25-30 mins or until heated through.
- Optional: Add breadcrumbs on top or crushed Buttery Garlic Club crackers.
