Patriotic Cake

  1. Let dough rise; add brown sugar, butter, eggs, cream, cloves and nutmeg.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Dissolve soda in water; mix into dough.
  4. Add currants and raisins; mix well.
  5. Turn into greased pan.
  6. Let rise for 20 minutes.
  7. Bake in preheated 325 F oven for 1 hour or until cake tests done.
  8. Cool.
  9. Ice as desired and garnish with candied cherries.
