Jake's Barbecue Sauce and Ribs
- 1 large onion, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 12 cup light brown sugar
- 1 lemon, juice of
- 1 orange, peeled, seeded, and chopped
- 12 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 12 lbs country-style pork ribs, trimmed of excess fat
- Saute onion in oil until it caramelizes to a golden brown.
- Add remaining ingredients, simmer a little while (an hour or so), taste, and add more brown sugar if you think it requires it.
- Pre-bake ribs at 425 degrees for 15 to 25 minutes until they start to brown.
- Cover meat with all the sauce, bake at 325 degrees about 40 minutes, turning once.
