Cream Cheese Loaf
- 6 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 envelope fast rising dry yeast
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 1 egg yolk, mixed with 1 Tbsp. water
- 4 tsp. instant onion flakes
- Combine 3 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl.
- Stir.
- Combine water, milk and butter in a small saucepan. Heat until warm.
- Add to the flour mix.
- Add cheese.
- Beat at low speed until blended, then beat at medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in 1 1/2 cups of remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time.
- Scrape sides while mixing.
- Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth (about 15 to 20 minutes).
- Shape into a ball. Place in a large oiled bowl, turning to bring the oiled side up. Cover with wax paper and a towel.
- Let rise for 30 minutes. Grease 2 loaf pans.
