Best Green Bean Casserole

  1. Steam beans.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Saute mushrooms and toss with beans.
  4. In a frying pan melt butter, add diced onion and saute until tender.
  5. Whisk in 2 tbsp flour, lemon zest and 3/4 tsp salt & 1/2 tsp pepper.
  6. Whisk in milk then sour cream.
  7. Add half of cheddar cheese.
  8. Mix with beans and mushrooms in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  9. Top with other half of cheddar cheese.
  10. Bake @ 350F for 15 minute.
  11. In the mean time toss 1 cup flour and salt in a large ziplock bag with sliced onion.
  12. Heat oil in frying pan.
  13. Add flour coated onion and fry until crispy (about 5 min).
  14. Top bean casserole with crispy fried onions.
  15. Enjoy!
