Hazelnut Brownies

  1. Heat oven to 350F.
  2. Grease 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.
  3. Melt 1/2 cup butter and baking chocolate in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, 4-6 minutes or until smooth.
  4. Stir in all remaining brownie ingredients until well mixed.
  5. Spread brownie mixture into prepared pan.
  6. Bake 25-30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.
  7. (Do not overbake.)
  8. Cool completely.
  9. Combine all filling ingredients except nuts in bowl.
  10. Beat at medium-low speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth and creamy.
  11. Spread filling over cooled brownies; sprinkle with toasted nuts.
  12. Lightly press into filling.
  13. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, 1-2 minutes or until smooth.
  14. Drizzle over filling and nuts.
  15. Cover; refrigerate at least 1 hour or until serving time.
  16. Let stand at room temperature 15 minutes before cutting.
  17. Cut into bars.
  18. Store refrigerated.
