Georgia Pecan Brownies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Brush a 9 x 13-inch baking dish or pan with butter.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the 1 cup of butter over medium heat; add the sugar and stir to dissolve.
  4. Keep warm.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add the butter mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, chocolate, and nuts.
  8. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the ingredients are combined (the batter should be very thick).
  9. Alternatively, you can mix the batter in a heavy-duty mixer.
  10. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
  11. Smooth the top with an offset spatula.
  12. Bake until set, 25 to 35 minutes.
  13. Remove to a rack to cool.
  14. Cut into pieces and serve.
  15. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
