Best Meatloaf Ever
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 pkg. saltine crackers, finely crushed
- bread crumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 4 to 6 slices bacon, fried crisp and crumbled with grease reserved
- 1 sm. onion, diced
- 1 sm. green pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. seasoned salt
- 1/8 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. Accent
- Saute green pepper and onion in the bacon grease till not quite tender, maybe 5 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce, 1/2 cup ketchup, Worcestershire and spices (minus brown sugar); heat 3-4 minutes.
- Place ground beef into large mixing bowl; add the eggs, brown sugar, pepper and onion sauce.
- Mix in the crumbled bacon and crushed crackers and mix all this together.
- Mixture should be very moist.
- Put into a baking dish and form into a loaf.
- Pour the other 1/2 cup of ketchup on top and spread it around.
- Bake at 350F for 1 hour.
