Rachael Ray's Super Sloppy Joes
- 1 1/4 lb ground sirloin
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp steak seasoning (may want to increase to 1 Tablespoon and I used Montreal Seasoning)
- 1 each onion (chopped)
- 1 each red bell pepper (chopped)
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 4 each crusty rolls, split, toasted and lightly buttered (I used hamburger buns)
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Garnish: sliced ripe tomatoes, pickles and whatever you like
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add oil and meat to the pan, breaking it up and spreading it around.
- Combine brown sugar and steak seasoning and add it to skillet.
- Combine well.
- When meat is brown, add onion and red bell pepper to skipper.
- Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, peppers, red wine vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce with meat for 5 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce and paste to pan.
- Stir to combine.
- Reduce to simmer and cook mixture 5 more minutes.
- Scoop mixture on bread, top to your choosing and serve.
