Green Chile sauce or Chile Verde Con Carne
- 1 lb Round steak cut in small cubes
- 2 tbsp Shortening or vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp Flour
- 1 small Onion, chopped
- 2 clove Garlic , minced
- 1 cup Chopped, canned or fresh Green Chile
- 3 cup Water
- 1 salt to taste
- place meat in sauce pan with flour, fry in hot shortening until brown.
- Add onion, garlic, chile and water.
- salt to taste.
- Simmer for thirty minutes.
- if to dry add water.
- Canned or fresh tomatoes may be used instead of water for a different taste.
- ground or cubed, other meats or poultry can also be used.
- No meat, tofu, or vegetables can be used for a vegetarian sauce
