Salisbury Steak For Two
- 1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 tbsp. finely minced onion
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. beef bouillon powder
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp. butter
- hard margarine
- 1 tbsp. all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1 cup skim evaporated milk
- 2 tsp. chopped green onion.
- FOR THE SALISBURY STEAK: Measure bread crumbs, salt, pepper, onion, milk, soy sauce and bouillon powder into bowl.
- Stir.
- Add ground beef.
- Mix well.
- Shape into 4 small oval patties 3/4 inch thick.
- Broil 8 to 10 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
- Makes 4 steaks.
- FOR THE SAVORY SAUCE: Melt butter in frying pan.
- Mix in flour and salt.
- Stir in apple juice, milk and green onion.
- Heat and stir until mixture boils and thickens, being sure to loosen any brown bits in pan.
- Pour over steaks.
- Serves 2.
