Perfect Strawberry Shortcake Recipe
- 2 c. enriched flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 well beaten egg
- 1/2 c. lowfat milk
- 1 quart. sugared strawberries
- Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add in combined egg and lowfat milk.
- Stir just till flour is moistened.
- Spread proportionately in greased 8 inch round cake pan.
- Bake in warm oven (450 degrees) till golden, about 15 to 20 min.
- Split shortcake.
- Spread with butter (optional).
- Fill and top with sugared berries.
- Serves 6.
