Herman Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons butter softened, or margerine
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup herman starter sour dough starter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves, ground
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup nuts chopped, optional
- 3/4 cup raisins, seedless optional
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Cream together sugar, butter and shortening until fluffy with electric mixer.
- Add Herman and Vanilla and beat only until combined.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda and spices.
- Add Herman mixture mixing until well combined.
- Fold in oats, nuts and raisins or chocolate chips.
- ( Altered with 2 cups chocolate chips in place of of raisins and nuts)
- Drop by teaspoon onto a lightly greased baking sheets.
- Bake at 375F (190C) about 10 minutes or until lightly brown on the edges.
- Make about 4 dozens of cookies.
- NOTE:
- I make this recipe and double it and make bigger cookies, also I substitute Chocolate chips for nuts and raisins because I am allergic to nuts and my kids hated raisins... Also doubled it as I always had an extra cup of the *sour dough starter.
