Maple Vanilla Chip Cookies
- 1 cup butter flavor shortening
- 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine, softened
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups vanilla chips or 2 cups white chocolate chips
- 12 cup chopped walnuts
- 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
- 4 -6 tablespoons milk
- 14 cup chopped walnuts
- In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and brown sugar.
- Add eggs, vanilla and maple flavoring, beating well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda.
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
- Stir in the walnuts and chips by hand.
- Drop by rounded tablespoonsful onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350 for 8 0 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Do not overbake!
- Cool for 2 minutes before removing from baking sheets.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar.
- Beat in flavoring and enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
- Frost cooled cookies and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
