Meletti Smash
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 10 fresh mint leaves, plus 1 sprig for garnish
- Dash of Fee Brothers mint bitters
- 1 ounce Amaro Meletti
- 1 ounce Black Seal rum
- 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon simple syrup
- To make the simple syrup, combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce the heat and simmer until the sugar is dissolved.
- Turn off the heat and set aside to cool the syrup to room temperature.
- Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week.
- To make each cocktail, use a wooden pestle or wooden spoon to muddle the mint leaves in an old-fashioned glass.
- Add the mint bitters and fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Combine the Amaro Meletti, rum, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously.
- Strain the cocktail into the glass with the mint leaves, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, and serve.
