Meletti Smash

  1. To make the simple syrup, combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Turn off the heat and set aside to cool the syrup to room temperature.
  4. Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week.
  5. To make each cocktail, use a wooden pestle or wooden spoon to muddle the mint leaves in an old-fashioned glass.
  6. Add the mint bitters and fill the glass with crushed ice.
  7. Combine the Amaro Meletti, rum, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the glass with the mint leaves, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, and serve.
